Furniture for the Porch

Yesterday some decisions were made as far as furniture goes in the porch. (yeah!!!)  On Saturday we went carpet shopping for the room.  We found a ton of carpets we liked, but of course they were all super expensive.  We did narrow down some options, but we are going to check one more place tomorrow.  I do know that it will be dark gray, and it will be a textured carpet.  Similar to the one seen here.
The couch that we ordered was from Home Decorators Collection.  They were having a Cinco De Mayo special that was 50% , 50 items that they had chosen.  The items were all already on clearance.  It was not the couch I had originally wanted, but that one was sold out.  The price on this couch was unbelievable.  It started out at $899, then it went down to $374.99, then it was 50% off of that making it...................$184.49.  This is her, cute right? Grey velvet!  Now that is decor4poor.
I also went out to run errands yesterday. I some how ended up finding a chair for the porch as well.(crazy how that happens)  It was at Homegoods on clearance for $140.00.  Tom was working and I made the emergency phone call to see if it would be OK to get it, of course it was.  I showed Tom the chair last night and he liked it, but wants to get his own man chair.  He wants his in black leather.  So we will have his and her chairs out there, so cute.  This is the chair.

The chair is white, these pics look a little dark.  I can't wait to get decorating that room.  It is going to be so nice.  I will post a pic of a piece of the dining room at bottom of post.  The dining room right now is a mess.  I will be taking those curtains down, and just exposing the windows.  There is such a nice view from in there, and don't want anything obstructing it.  I also want to use different chairs at that table, I think I have some that will work.  I am so over that light as well, I want to get this one from Urban Outfitters.
So here is a pic of what I am talking about.
There is so much potential.  This room is going to be smoking for the summer.
I didn't go garage saleing this weekend at all.(boo hoo) We did some much needed outdoor work.  I weeded like crazy.  I hate doing it, but love the results.  More to come there. Well time to tend to the little ones.

Friday Inspirations

OMG....... so excited we are going carpet hunting tomorrow for our porch that is off the dining room.  It is an awesome room that looks into the woods with wildlife all over the place.  It also looks into the in ground pool area we have.  Seriously now today I was heading out to the porch, and opened the door right into my nose.  I seriously thought it was broken I swear I heard it crack.  It didn't bleed, but it is bruised and hurts.  When it happened I was like, "I think my nose is broken."  Tom was so relieved that it didn't seem to be broken because when your a man and your wife says my nose is broken from running into a door, they immediately think abuse.  I never even thought about it.
Here is some inspiration for the weekend..  It is at least inspirational to me.

I love that ceiling and the black and white everything.
                                    The green couch is amazing!!!!
This room is assembled perfectly.  I love the pink headboard.
Hope you all have a fun weekend, and get some cool stuff garage saleing (Is that how you spell that?).  I hope I do anyway.  I hope I find that green couch!

Nailhead Mirror

The mirror downstairs was purchased from Homegood's a couple years ago.  It was not the one I originally wanted.  The one I wanted had a brown wood stained frame.  I had told Tom about the mirror I saw there, and really wanted.  The crappy thing was Toms back was killing him, and he had called out to work.  There was no way I could handle getting it alone. Tom told me we could go get it tomorrow.  I told time and I quote  "I will just die if they don't have that mirror there tomorrow" We did end up going there and it was gone, but they had the same size one just with a white stained frame. I pouted for awhile, and Tom was like get the white one and we could fix it up.  I said no at first, then we went with it.  It was only $89.00.  We tried to put it in Toms then Saturn Vue, it wasn't even close to fitting.  Tom called his friend who had a truck, and they managed to get it in.  Tom called me on route bringing it home, and said "it will be a miracle if this makes it home in one piece."  It did make it here, and I was so happy.  We decided to paint in black, and Tom put 275 nail heads around it.  We used a snap chalk line to make a straight line then tapped in the nail heads.  It is so awesome. It goes to show if you like something new at a store but it isn't quite right, go home and make it your own.  These are the pics.

Excuse that weirdo in her pajamas in the picture, she is a nutjob.
So you can see how large that mirror is.  It was a great purchase, and really makes the room seem larger.
I am off to watch Adams first baseball game of the season.  It is his real birthday today!  Happy 10th Birthday Adam!

Downstairs

I have been trying to fix up the downstairs, it has been a dumping ground for awhile.  I had my furniture from my first place down there, and wanted to spruce it up a little.  I ordered a chair slipcover off of eBay and it turned out to be too small.  I hate having to send stuff back.... UGHHHH.  I checked our local Big Lots and they had a Sure Fit slipcover so I tried that and turns out it fits and it was cheaper.  I guess you should always go with the name brands when it comes to slipcovers.  I do like the cover, although it is a little wrinkled and I'm not patient enough to iron. LAZY! When I ordered the original slipcover, I also ordered some pillow covers from Etsy.  They came today and I love them!  These are some pics of the chair slipcover and pillows.  I got the cute owl at Big Lots too.

There is still a lot of work to be done down there, but this is all I could handle today.  I went to the Doctors and have an infection of some sort.  I am taking antibiotics, and got an inhaler.  There is some dust down there, and don't want to make things worse for myself.  Que the violins and get the cheese for the wine.

Front Porch

We are tiling the front porch with porcelain we were told they are stronger in the cold than ceramic tile.  We had originally wanted 12x12 tiles, but were told by many that they would crack in the cold.  We decided to go with 4x4 tiles instead because smaller tiles would withstand the cold temps.  This turned out to be a nightmare because they were so small, and trying to get them all perfectly straight is a nightmare.  Tom has literally put in over 20 hours of work, and not even half way done.  It will look fabulous when it is complete, they are Terracotta colored, and we threw in a few off white tiles just to mix it up.  The last picture has one on the stairs.  If any of you don't think you can tile outside if you live in a cold climate you can!  We started this project last year, and the small tiles didn't crack.  So go for it!  Be patient.

Today was a pretty lazy day.  I am still getting over a cold, I have a nasty cough.
I am still going crazy over instagram.  I can't wait to take some outside shots.  I am going through some of my old pictures and adding some instafab to them. I am addicted.  My favorite color change is the 1977 effect.
