Leather by Heather
I was looking at the entry off the garage and decided I needed something for the top of the window. I'm not a big fan of valances, so I wasn't sure what to do. I thought a cornice box with leather would look cool, but after a few trips to the fabric stores I knew it would be expensive. The other night it came to me, get an old leather jacket and use the leather from that, BINGO. I went to Goodwill about a week ago and saw this old leather trench coat, couldn't of been happier $6.00. Goodwill never disappoints. The next step was getting Tom to go for it, which of course he did. Tom had some wood to frame in some skylights on our porch (future B & F) so he cut it the length we needed for the window. The next step was making the sides to the depth we wanted for the box, decided on 4 inches. Tom screwed the pieces together, then made little blocks that we attached to the end of the 4 inch side pieces, that we would later use to attach to the wall. When the box was finished we cut the material off the coat, after my photo shoot trying it on. I then stapled the material to the box. We hung it up and there she is, we love it. P.S The jacket is now a blazer style, I just need to hem it.

I made a cloche and I liked it
I have given in to the mighty blogashpere and made a cloche. This is my spin on it. I spray painted in black, (of course, like I know of any other color) and then I hammered in little silver tacks which seems to be another new obsession of mine. The little finishing hammer I used by the way was picked up at Toms favorite garage sale of all time. The garage sale was all tools, Toms favorite thing. The little hammer worked perfect for this project. After I hammered in the tacks I glued the candle holder to the bottom of the wooden round part. Then for the best part, cookies. I like the way it turned out.
Check It Out
One of my favorite decor blogs has a before and after "party", where she, and people in the blogosphere send in pics of all their before and after projects they have done. She does this every month, and I am on there. I sent in a pic of my hallway. I will be sending in one more soon, Tom and I will be working on a cool project tomorrow.

Hall of Fame
This is a before and after of our hallway to the bedrooms and bathroom. The gallery idea was inspired by Tom's sister, she literally has two walls in her house full of framed pictures, and it is beautiful. We painted the hallway the same color as the living room, added track lighting, and of course alot of pictures. The frames are all black, and we just put pictures that are endearing to us. We have pictures of everyone in the house from first grade, really cute. It is a spot in the house that we love.
M I A
Sorry no blogging yesterday, went on a road trip with the family. Tom, Noah, and I went to the Saratoga Race Track, and it was fun! I was hoping to win big and hit all the wonderful outlets in Queensbury. The stores in Queensbury are all outlets, something I don't really have in good ol VT. They had Crate and Barrel, J. Crew, Ralph Lauren, Nine West, Coach, Osh Kosh, and so on, and so on. I'll be posting something new today! I also have some advertisements now on my blog, if anyone is bothered by them in anyway please let me know how to improve.
