Lazy Bones

So sorry for my lack of blogging.  I think I hit a brick wall.  I will get back on track going into the new year.  We just sold our sectional furniture downstairs, so I will have have a whole new area to decorate.  I just needed a break.  I haven't gone to the gym, or done anything around here.  Christmas has put me in lazy mode.  I hope you all have a great Christmas, and awesome new year's.

TV Stands and Ugly Cords

I was just checking out my pic of Adam on TV, and was daydreaming about how nice it would be to get a new TV stand.  We would need to get a corner TV stand.  I had thought that it would be nice to put the TV above the mantle, but wonder if I would get annoyed never being able to decorate that area the way I like. CSN stores has some wonderful TV stands.  I really like this one.
I especially like it because I could hide the wires behind the stand.  The stand we have now exposes all that mess.  I hate cords!!!  Does anyone have any tips for hiding those ugly cords?

GMA

Here is my little man on GMA on Friday. So cute, he is front and center n the blue jacket and Santa hat.  Sam Champion is to his left.  We were so excited.

My Superstar Son On TV

I just wanted to tell everyone to watch Good Morning America tomorrow on ABC from 6am -9am.  My son Adam will be probably singing with his class.  The weatherman from the show is coming to The Inn at Essex and there will be different performances.  He will be wearing a puffy indigo blue jacket if they are outside, with a Santa hat.  If inside he will be wearing a red sweater, with Santa hat.  We have to get there super early so it is an early night for us.  Check it out... I think they are singing Deck The Halls.  If you see someone jumping around ridiculously in the background, it will probably be me.

Retro Sale Flyer

I am snowed in today.  I was looking forward to going to Goodwill today and getting something that I saw yesterday, but can't.  I did one little thing today, that I love.  I found an old ad from a newspaper to Kmart that I printed up and framed.  I love old retro items, especially Christmas ones.  Just looking at this ad you can see what a simpler time it was.  There were no doorbusters and not a ton of choices just basic items, that kids seem to love just as much as Wii games.  Here she is, click on pic to see the ads better.  This may be my Christmas card this year, folded with our names and Christmas cheer inside.  What do you think?

Deer Head Mantle Was A Top Pick

I just wanted to thank Bobbypin's Boardwalk for featuring my deer head mantle as a top pick for the week, what an honor.  Please visit her blog here and check out the other top picks.  Thanks so much!!!!!!!!

Oh Christmas Tree

So we got our tree Saturday and got her all decorated.  I have again used burlap (big shocker) as garland that I cut into strips from burlap fabric.  I have never used garland before, but thought it would be a nice touch.  We got her at a local cut your own tree place.  It totally would have put you all in the holiday spirit with the hot cocoa, candy canes, sleds, and evergreen aroma in the air.  The tree was $33.00, I wonder how much you all pay for trees. Here are some pics.

The tree about to meet her maker.
Adam and I dragging the tree on a sled, while Brianna holds little Noah.

The tree all decorated. I hope to find an old sheepskin rug at a garage sale or thrift store.  I think it would make an awesome tree skirt.

Little Noah already getting into the ornaments.

Here is a pic of a chick riding a horse up our road.  It was so pretty.

Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Wreath

Welcome to Heather's House of Burlap.  I feel an intervention coming.  So I went to the grocery story and bought one of those Christmas wreaths with the cheap red bow on it for $9.00, and did a change up.  First let me say how annoying is it when you drive somewhere to get something, and they don't have it.  I wanted to get some burlap garland that they had at Michael's, and of course they didn't have any.  I decided to go to the fabric store and buy some burlap and make my own.  The garland at Michael's was like $3.59 for not that much.  The fabric store wanted $2.99 a yard for burlap.  I bought 4 yards, and decided to cut it into strips.
I know it's not very straight, but all you have to do is fringe the edges a little bit and it looks fine.
I wrapped burlap around the wreath, and then used some red tulle ribbon that I had to add a little attitude to it.  I made a bow out of the burlap, and added a piece of greenery that I had.  Here is the finished product.

It literally took 10 minutes, tops.  Love it! Click on the pic for a close up.

Howdy

Sorry I have not posted for a few days, are power has been out.  It has been a horrible few days.  It was like 50 degrees in our house, with no lights, no TV, no heat, ohhhh and no computer. FREAKKKK.  Blog withdrawal.  I did manage to fix up our grocery store wreath yesterday.  I'll post it tomorrow.   We are trying to get situated from the outage.  We had massive winds here, it was like a tornado.  We literally had to drive under a fallen tree to get off our road.  Anyway..... Blog tomorrow.
